Boise Fun Date Ideas: The History

Boise has a lot of history when it comes to entertainment. The Gastation was the ideal entertainment spot that opened in 1978 and closed in 1980. In 1979, Billboard Magazine voted this venue as one of the best discos in the entire world. Grove Street Dancing was a teen club constructed inside an old garage in the downtown area of Boise. It was demolished later and is now a parking garage. At first, the club was geared towards hookers and African Americans, but the bar was not doing well so it was changed to a teen club to accommodate disco music and the teenagers in the area. It was going well for a while as it served no alcohol. It was likely that you would see a little less a thousand teens going to the club over a span of three nights per week. The disco started opening until 1AM to accommodate adults. They would put on lingerie fashion parties until 4AM. However, the disco only lasted for a year, after which it closed.

The Cotton Club became popular because of its wall to wall soul music and sound system. It was the place to be in the 80s. It was the perfect date spots for couples. But, it did not last long enough for some. The club closed its doors after several short years. Ballrooms were the norm back in the 30s and 40s in the city of Boise. It was natural to listen to the Big Bands and to jazz music. During those years, it was the close of World War II and as soldiers came back home, the celebration began in the ballrooms across the city. Even in the 50s and 60s, ballroom dancing was still prominent until the times changed in the late 60s.It was then that many ballrooms began to close their doors and dance clubs were introduced. However, while the ballroom era continued, it was definitely a time where memories were created. Some of the ballrooms at that time were Miramar Ballroom, Fiesta Ballroom and the Trocadaro Ballroom.
