phenomenon could be felt in the Hawthorne community as well as NW 21st and 23rd Street.

At that time, the area was industrial and a little run down, even though, there were a few cafes and hippy businesses. Young adults under 21 years of age would congregate there and make out. The Quest was another underage club that drew young adults from adjoining cities.
Hamburger Mary's was the place to be in the 1970s and 1990s. It was a funky establishment with an eclectic setting. The place closed in 2010 and was replaced by an educational institution. The Blue Gallery was a small, but clean club that came alive on weekends. The club saw celebrities like Poison Idea, Elvis Hitler and Napalm Beach and many other punk bands. Pine Street Theatre hosted live entertainment in its large hall and huge stage. It had a backroom and balcony that was a place to chill out and drink beer. It was closed after ten years of being in business.
The Long Goodbye was a club that saw a lot of punk bands and new wave bands. It closed down in the 1990s and was replaced by a hippy joint. Satyricon was located in Old Town and this nightclub was the venue that hosted rock bands and touring bands as well as local bands. The club opened in 1983 and closed in 2010. In 2011, the building was torn down and demolished. The Alexi Restaurant was in operation for thirty six years. The atmosphere as boisterous and loud, but it was because everyone was relaxed and having fun. They had a vintage wine list and was the center for feeding the homeless. The restaurant closed in 2010.
